cryptic crosswords
Hi - I'm interested in purchasing Crosswords - but I don't know the sources listed so I don't know if I can get cryptic crosswords without paying a subscription. Can we download cryptic crosswords without subscriptions?

We do support the Independent cryptic, and are currently working on supporting additional cryptic and UK-style providers. You can see a full provider list at:

So to summarise: At the moment there is one cryptic crossword that does not require a subscription. Is that correct?
The list of providers would be more useful if it noted whether the crosswords were cryptic or straight.

Currently, the Independent is the only active free cryptic provider, yes. Thanks for the suggestion; we'll look into making the provider types more clear in our provider listings.
