Updated my iPad to the new io5 and there was no way to get out of the puzzle I was working on. I deleted and reinstalled and entered my premium subscription info. The app then loaded a starter puzzle and again I cannot get out of the puzzle and get to the main menu. Any suggestions?

By main menu, do you mean your iPad's main menu? What happens if you press the Home button on your iPad?

I meant the Crosswords main screen. However a friend told me to delete the app, re-sync to my Mac and then reinstall. I did this and the app is now working. Thanks for your help!
