New puzzles don't download. Completed puzzles don't bring up scores (times). standalone.com is down. Is this a temporary or permanent outage? What happened?

I haven't been able to connect since Tuesday

I send mail to [email blocked] and got this reply:

"If you have encountered issues while attempting to download crosswords puzzles through one of our apps, unfortunately we have been experiencing intermittent server issues since Monday, Oct. 26th. Service should be permanently restored soon. Our apologies for the inconvenience."

Can't even import puzzles locally, which seems weird.

Unfortunately, due to severe hardware failure on our service provider's end, our puzzle server is still currently offline. We expect (but cannot promise) that puzzle downloads will be restored at some time on the 30th.

Our apologies for the inconvenience - we're just as frustrated by this as you are. Over the past seven years, our app server has only encountered a handful of downtime incidents, none of which lasted more than a few hours, much less days.

Due to this incident we've taken steps to ensure that, if a similar issue happens again, we'll be able to mitigate future extended downtime.

Again, our apologies, and we thank you for your patience. If you have any additional questions or comments, please reply to this email.
