Hint used or not?
Hi,
At puzzle completion, when I have used the "clear all errors"
button, sometimes my time is categorized as using hints, and at
other times it's in the no hints category. What's up with that?

You can use Command ⌘ instead of Control ^ on Mac

If you clear all errors, and but there are no errors to be cleared, you are not penalized for using that hint feature. Otherwise, each error counts as a hint.
