For the last several days I can no longer download from the NY Times. I tried re-entering my (unchanged) user id & password, but I still get an authentication error. I can access my NYTimes account via the web normally, so something is messed up in Crossword (for Android.)

Can you log into the Premium Crossword section of the New York Times with your current credentials?

If not, we suggest you contact the New York Times as it's more than likely an account issue, and not a problem with the app itself.

Hmmmm.....something is broken at the NY Times. I am entitled to access
the Premium Crossword section but suddenly it is not working. I'll see
    what they have to say.

I finally got it working. On my Android phone, I had to first
authenticate my account, with my browser, before the Crossword app would
then authenticate with the NYT. And somehow doing the access with the
Dolphin browser rather than the default Android browser, does not leave
whatever cookie etc. that needs to be present for Crossword to
authenticate. Or so it seemed, after much experimenting.

Bottom line: as you surmised, it is not strictly a Crossword issue, but
something deeper and mysterious happening with the associated browser.
It is ***not*** obvious that one has to first access the Time website
with one's browser, and only thereafter does the Xword app
authenticate.Perhaps this needs to be in a FAQ.

    Harry,

Thanks for the feedback - we're still investigating the issue, and hopefully we'll have a more complete workaround available soon.
